Samba: Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is in the border areas in Jammu and Kashmir reviewing security following the repeated Pakistani ceasefire violations. Shinde held a meeting with BSF officers in Samba along with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
To give a boost to the defence forces, Shinde said, "All central forces will now get ex-servicemen benefits. They will also get reservation in trains."
Omar Abdullah had on Monday called for a befitting response from India to Pakistani firing. His outburst came after Pakistani continued firing on Sunday night in 20 areas across four sectors.
Omar Abdullah on Monday called for tough action as ceasefire violations by Pakistan continued. "Centre should explore other options if Pakistan continues to violate ceasefire along the LoC," Omar said. Calling the ceasefire violation a 'one-sided affair', Omar said, "It cannot be a one sided affair, we can't be at the receiving end without giving any response."
In fact, Pakistan has violated ceasefire yet again by firing at Indian posts in Abdullian Sector in RS Pura along the international border on Monday night. The BSF has asked its troops to retaliate strongly to Pakistani firing and not become easy targets.
The government has said there have been more than 200 incidents of ceasefire violations this year so far. Hundreds of people have fled their villages on the border following the firing.
