The north division police  cracked the dacoity case in which the car driver of a cash-ferrying vehicle had escaped with `44 lakh cash along with his associates in Gangammanagudi police station limits on July 27. The police have arrested five persons and recovered Rs 27 lakh.

The accused are identified as Javed Pasha, 25, his brothers Jamshed Pasha alias Mouli Saab, 33, Mujahid Pasha alias Muja, 21, Sikandar Pasha alias Silkandar, 21, and Raghavendra Reddy alias Chandrashekhar, 32, of Marathalli.

According to the police, the accused learnt that the vehicles did not have proper security. They identified CMS Agency, which handles cash depositing operations at ATMs and hatched a plot to rob the cash.

Accordingly, they stole a Tata Sumo (KA-51-1924) in K R Puram on July 6, and put a fake number plate.

“They contacted N Cash Tours and Travels, which provides vehicles to CMS Agency. They rented the stolen Tata Sumo to the travel agency and the vehicle was sent to CMS Agency to carry cash. On July 27, Reddy informed the Agency staff that he would be sending another driver as he was not well,” the police said.

“Sikandar had come as the driver. When the vehicle was crossing Ramachandrapura around 3.30pm, the other accused waylaid the vehicle and threatened two cash custodians and the gunman at knife point. They got into the vehicle and took them to a eucalyptus groove in Hosakote and threw them out of the vehicle before escaping with cash Rs 44 lakh. Later, the accused had shared the robbed money,” the police added. The police are on the lookout for one more accused.
