BIJAPUR: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that he would soon convene a meeting of MLAs of Bijapur and Bagalkot districts to discuss the relief works to be undertaken there. In a release, the CM said permanent measures to solve the problems will be discussed. He pointed out that to address dependance on borewells for water is not a solution for the water crisis. “There is a need for permanent structures on the banks of Bhima river under the Upper Krishna Project,” he said. He instructed the police officials to ensure that cattle are not sent to slaughter houses and urged that they be sent to goshalas (cattle sheds). The chief minister also directed the HESCOM officials not to file cases against gram panchayats for non-payment of power bills, adding that the officials ensure three-phase power supply for at least four hours daily.
