KOCHI: All procedures have been completed for sending ballot papers to service voters in Piravom constituency by post. The procedures were carried out by a team led by Returning Officer E R Sobhana. Defence personnel working in different parts of the country and their families staying with them, have been included in the list of classified service voters. In Piravom constituency there are a total of 323 classified service voters. The Election Commission had earlier instructed the government press to print the ballots for service votes. The printed ballots were sent to service voters by the officials working overtime at the Head Post Office in Ernakulam.  Service voters are issued ballot papers without mentioning symbols. The inspection of electronic voting machines (EVM) for Piravom bypoll has already been completed. A total of 140 machines will be used for 140 polling stations. However, additional EVMs have been kept as reserve and for giving training to booth level officers. These are kept at the strongroom in the Civil Station. The ballots to be kept in the EVMs are being printed at the government press in Thiruvananthapuram. High-power batteries which  lasts for a long duration will be installed in the EVMs. Arranging the names and symbols of the candidates is the remaining task.
