VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that the state government was taking all initiatives to take up the construction of Bandar port soon. “We have already issued a GO on land allotment for the port, he said. The chief minister, who toured Krishna district as part of his bypoll campaign schedule on Tuesday, arrived at Gannavaram airport at around 9 am. He convened an informal meeting with director of ports Muralidhar Reddy on the port issue at the airport. Krishna collector SAM Rizvi, joint collector Gaurav Uppal and MLAs from the district also took part in the meeting. Government whip and Machilipatnam MLA Perni Venkata Ramaiah (Nani) has said that the government would issue a notification regarding land acquisition for Bandar Port in July this year. City MLAs Malladi Vishnu, Vellampally Srinivas Rao and Yelamanchili Ravi, Pamarru MLA DY Dasu, Pedana MLA Jogi Ramesh, MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah, former minister Devineni Rajashekar (Nehru), DCC president Naraharishetti Narasimha Rao, PCC secretary Kolanukonda Sivaji and others also met the chief minister.
