Representatives of backward class communities on Tuesday said they would float a new political party and contest the 2014 assembly elections if political parties do not respond to their demand for reservation of tickets in proportion to their population in the state.
BC leader R Krishnaiah has announced that the representatives of 124 BC communities in the state would organise a state-level brainstorming meeting on the issue on August 4 at Jubilee Hall, Public Gardens.
"So far, TDP has declared that it would provide due share of seats to backward classes and proper place in the legislature if TDP forms government," he said.
He alleged that the present government has been cheating BCs by not giving benefits and reservation to BC employees and students. "More than 20 percent of posts in all the departments in the state are yet to be filled with eligible BC candidates but government is not acting though we have been begging it to fill those positions," he alleged.
