WARANGAL: Elugeti Anil Kumar of Karimabad, who has secured eighth rank in the Group I exam, has once again proved that determination is the key to success regardless of ones financial position. Anil Kumar, who scored 553.77 marks in the exam, comes from a modest background. His father Ravindhar is an electrician, while mother rolls beedis.Anil Kumar completed his SSC from Sri Venkateswara Aided High School in 1994 and did Intermediate from CKM College. As their financial position did not permit him to pursue higher studies, he obtained a diploma in typing and shorthand from an ITI and started taking up job works.He obtained a degree from Ambedkar Open University i n 2002. In 2000, he joined the Central Government undertaking Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) as a steno. Anil, a father of two children, says that neither his poor economical condition nor the fact he did his degree from the Open University did not deter him from appearing for the competitive exam.‘’In fact poverty has made me more determined to aim high,’’ he said. He said he had applied four months leave and would study for 12 hours a day.He said that poverty should not be a stumbling block for appearing for competitive exams, adding that his aim was to become a deputy collector.
