In a bizarre incident that left police stunned, a physically-challenged man was caught smuggling alcohol by concealing bottles in his prosthetic leg. The shocking event unfolded in the Bounsi police station area of Bihar’s Banka district, where authorities were conducting routine vehicle checks near Guria Turn on the Hansdiha-Bhagalpur main road, close to the Jharkhand border.
According to reports, police noticed a young man riding a scooty who appeared nervous upon seeing them. Identified as Mahesh Kumar Lal from Ishakchak in Bhagalpur district, the man attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended by the officers.
Upon closer inspection, police discovered that Lal was wearing a plastic artificial leg. Suspicious of his behaviour, they decided to examine the prosthetic more closely. To their astonishment, as they opened the leg, several bottles of foreign liquor began to emerge, revealing a well-conceived smuggling operation.
During interrogation, Lal confessed to smuggling liquor for an extended period, utilising his prosthetic leg as a clever concealment method. He admitted to transporting the bottles from Jharkhand to Bhagalpur, cleverly evading law enforcement.
Further investigation of his scooty uncovered additional bottles hidden in a compartment under the vehicle, totaling 15 bottles of illicit alcohol. The authorities have arrested Lal and filed charges against him under the Prohibition Act. He is currently in custody, facing legal repercussions for his unique and audacious smuggling strategy.
