THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of the Induchoodan Commemoration Day, the city-based bird watchers’ organisation Warblers and waders will conduct a one-day bird watching trip.Ornithologist, environmentalist and literary personality, K K Neelakantan, who is popularly known as ‘Induchoodan’ had been the guiding light of Warblers and Waders ever since its genesis in 1990.The organisation has been observing June 14 every year as ‘Induchoodan Commemoration Day.This year, a bird watching trip is being arranged to Arippa, Ammayamabalam Pacha at Kulathupuzha and Kattilappara of Shendurney Wildlife sanctuary on Tuesday.In continuation with this, a photo exhibition, titled ‘Butterflies of Kerala’ is also being organised from June 17 to June 19The photographers of Warblers and Waders and the photographers associated with Warblers and Waders will be participating in this exhibition.Eminent wildlife photographer Sali Palode will inaugurate the photo exhibition at Museum Auditorium. P Narayanakurup, eminent poet and writer, will preside the function.The inaugural function will have a talk by P B Biju on forest birds, a talk on water birds by Abhiram Sankar, a talk on butterflies by B V Premkrishnan and another one on the butterflies of Kerala by C Sushanth. The function will also honour Abhiram Sankar, bird watcher and member of Warblers and Waders, who bagged the fourth rank in Civil Services Exams 2011.
