PIRAVOM: The enthusiasm of the BJP cadre is infectious. The fact that the main clash here is between the Right and the Left fronts has not dampened the party’s zest to put up a tough fight.BJP candidate Adv K R Rajagopal’s campaign was in full swing at Maneed and Piravom panchayats on Tuesday despite the party lacking a support base in these areas.Rajagopal, the son of former Health Minister and Congress leader K G R Kartha, is a state committee and national council member of the BJP.As for Rajagopal, he is seeking vote for those looking for a change from the usual fare.According to Rajagopal, what Piravom needs is a representative who can bring in development.“Our land too needs Gujaratmodel development,” he says and urges the people to check the development in BJP-governed states before casting their votes.Rajagopal says he is aware of the problems faced by the people of Piravom, including water shortage, the problems that arise owing to an unplanned and ecologically-insensitive development and the housing issues.“Though NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair has offered his support to the UDF, many people belonging to the community are with us,” said BJP state vice-president P M Velayudhan. The BJP campaign started from Karoorkaavu and passed through Memukham and Maneed junction. The campaign at Piravom panchayat started at Mulakulam and ended at Piravom Town on a high note with party’s senior leader O Rajagopal addressing the meet. The campaign was inaugurated by P N Velayudhan and state-level leaders Sivankutty and M N Madhu attended the meet. The party is hoping to gather as many votes from its strongholds at Chottanikkara, Amballoor, Edakkattuvayal, Ramamangalam and Thiruvankulam panchayats.
