HYDERABAD: Transport minister and APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana has fulfilled his assurance given to AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad -- to break the ongoing APSRTC strike in Telangana region. With chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and the APCC president having differences on several issues in the recent past, the APSRTC strike appears to have created much political distance between them.Sakala Janula Samme began on September 13 and APSRTC employees of Telangana region took part in the strike from 19.In the beginning, the APSRTC officials had issued notices to contract employees without consulting the transport minister. At that time, the RTC officials said they were forced to implement the government direction in this regard. After that, Botcha had reportedly pulled up the APSRTC and RTA officials. In this backdrop, Botcha is understood to have discussed the issue with TJAC chairman M Kodandaram and TRS MLA KT Rama Rao and given an assurance that no action would be taken against striking RTC staff.According to Congress sources, two days ago, the CM and the APCC president separately met Azad in Delhi where both the leaders are understood to have briefed him over the differences between them on several issues.Following this, Azad reportedly directed Botcha to take steps to break the APSRTC strike and only then, he, sources said, would take steps to set right issues between the two leaders.
