Botcha takes on Babu to outwit Kiran Reddy
Satyanarayana batted for the government, giving an impression that there was no one else to do the job in the Congress.

HYDERABAD: Even before the chief minister, or for that matter any senior Congress leader, reacted to the comments made by Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu over the address of the Governor to the joint session of AP legislature on Monday, it was PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana who trained guns at Naidu and sought to take the wind out of his sails on the issues of corruption and liquor scam.

Satyanarayana batted for the government, defending it to the hilt, giving an impression that there was no one else to do the job in the Congress. He matched Naidu’s criticism that the Governor’s address did not touch corruption and liquor mafia with his poser to him why he sought a halt to CBI inquiry ordered into his wealth by the court when another opposition party filed a petition.

“Those who are in public life should have the guts to take challenges. If you have not done anything wrong, why are you afraid of the CBI?  Look at my case. The CBI had acquitted me of all charges of wrong doing in Emaar scam,” Satyanarayana said. He also found fault for twisting his statement on owning liquor shops. “Did I ever say I owned 31 liquor shops. I only said my relatives and those known to me own the shops and that I had asked them to do business in accordance with law,” he said.

According to sources close to Satyanarayana, he is keen on emerging as the stoutest defender of the party in the face of the onslaught from the Opposition. It is said Satyanayaran has reportedly chosen to charge at Chandrababu Naidu quickly to give the impression that he was the only leader who could defend the government. His intention is to dwarf the chief minister and earn brownie points with the party high command, sources say.

Interestingly, the Telugu Desam Party too is  planning to target Botcha Satyanarayana for having interest in liquor business, in its fight against liquor syndicates.
