HYDERABAD: State Congress president Botcha Satyanarayana is planning to undertake district tours to revitalise the party from the grass-root level.Taking his task seriously, the new PCC chief has started giving directions to the chiefs of district and city Congress committees on the measures needed to be taken to strengthen the party base.Besides planning district tours and participation in DCC meetings by himself, he has asked ministers, incharge ministers and others concerned to visit DCC offices without fail during their district tours.Botcha, for the first time after taking charge as the PCC chief on June 11, visited his home district of Vizianagaram and attended a meeting organised by the DCC there.He planned to make visits to one or two districts in a week to enthuse the party cadre at the district level.After his return to the city from Vizianagaram district on Monday, Botcha will finalise his district tours.He held a meeting recently with DCC and CCC presidents to involve party cadre in effective implementation of government programmes and in taking them to people’s reach. He said repeatedly that he would act like a coordinator between the party and the government.According to sources, the PCC chief, who hails from coastal Andhra, may not face hostility from Telanganites during his visits to the districts in the region since he has declared that he will not oppose state’s bifurcation and that he will abide by the decision of the high command.He has even said that he will place “all the facts” before the Centre for necessary action on Telangana.Currently, the state party leadership faces two major challenges: agitation for separate Telangana and rebels sailing with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The membership enrollment last year had faced difficulties due to a ruckus created by Jagan’s supporters. The leadership was forced not to conduct organisational elections amidst anti-party activities by rebel leaders.
