BANGALORE Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa won the trust vote after the oneline motion seeking the confidence of the "house" was approved both by voice vote as well as by head count in the Assembly on Thursday.
Yeddyurappa showed that he enjoys the confidence of 119 MLAs - with one absentee - in the House of 224. While the Congress walked out shouting slogans against the Chief Minister and Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah, the JD(S) decided to boycott the session. The House met at 12.20 pm and after the obituary references to godman Sathya Sai Baba and others, the Speaker announced that the House will take up the motion of trust to be moved by the Chief Minister, which was objected to by Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah. He also demanded the resignation of the Speaker.

With Siddaramaiah and his party castigating the Speaker, Bopaiah, in turn, ruled that not a single word spoken by the former should go on record. He also ordered that certain words be expunged from the records.

"I am sorry for the conduct of Congress MLAs. The words used by Siddaramaiah against the Speaker are deplorable. I urge the Speaker to refer it to the privileges committee," he said.
