BANGALORE: After three years,  the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bangalore University and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to setup Sir M Visvesvaraya Chair has come alive. In a press release,  the varsity called for applications from distinguished scholars to occupy the Sir M Visvesvaraya Chair.“BU is on the lookout for an eminent scientist at the level of senior professor with outstanding credits in the field of space science, technology and applications, and in a position to direct multi-disciplinary studies to occupy Sir M Visvesvaraya Chair, initially tenable for a period of five years on a monthly honorarium of Rs 30,000 excluding other benefits,” the press release from the university stated.The objective will be in depth advanced research and identification of the original contributions made by Sir M Visvesvaraya . The Chair is open only to Indian citizens and the University reserves the right in its decision. Those interested may apply  in the form of ‘Curriculum Vitae’ addressed to Prof B A Kagali, coordinator, Sir M Visvesvaraya Chair, Department of Physics, Jnana Bharathi campus within 15 days.Express had reported last year about the impasse of the MoU that was signed in July 2009, when V-C Dr N Prabhu Dev had said that funds received by ISRO towards the setting up of the Chair was insufficient.
