Bypoll for KPHB Colony on October 16

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has made elaborate arrangements for the conduct of casual election to Ward 117- KPHB Colony on October 16. As many as 70,526 voters (39,046 men and 31,480 women) are going to decide the fate of 11 candidates who are in the fray.The main contest, however, will be among Dandamudi Venkata Samrajyam (TDP), Harish Chandra Reddy Pannala (Congress) and Banda Visweswara Rao (BJP). The rest are independent candidates.The seat fell vacant due to the sudden demise of sitting TDP corporator Dandamundi Shobhanadri.GHMC officials told Express that about 360 polling personnel at the rate of 5 per polling booth will be deployed for the smooth conduct of the elections.Another 75 personnel are put in reserve.Polling will be held in 72 polling stations, including 62 main stations and 10 auxiliary stations. The GHMC will conduct training classes to the POs and APOs from October 11 to 13.About 90 Electronic Voting Machines will be used. 125 controlling units and 250 balloting units will be provided.Counting will begin at 8 a.m on October 18 and the result out by afternoon.
