A Cancer Biology department, with the help of US' Rosewell Park Cancer Institute, will be set up at Uttarakhand's Kumaon University to promote research in cancer therapy using medicinal herb.
Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar endorsed the idea of establishing a cancer biology department at the varsity to promote research in the field saying the hill state was home to a large number of medicinal herbs which can be developed and utilised to fight the killer disease, an official statement said in Dehradun on Tuesday.
A presentation in this regard was made by the university at the Chief Secretary's office.
It said research activities in cancer therapy at the varsity would be carried out with the help of USA's Rosewell Park Cancer Institute known all over the world for its achievements in the field of cancer therapy, the statement said.
