Coming back for their fourth edition, the Joy of Giving Week (JoGW) was announced on Friday. A collaborative effort among various voluntary groups, the JoGW will take place from October 2 to 8. following from it’s previous format, the week will be conducted at various schools with each day collecting donations of any kind, culminating in an open house of sorts on the last two days.
Speaking at the announcement, Katherine Dhanani, the Consul General of the US Consulate Hyderabad and also champion of the initiative for this year, said, “I have been looking forward to the JoGW. Volunteerism is a very important aspect in our lives.The simple act of sharing is the real joy and that where the JoGW comes from. It’s been scientifically shown and proven, people who share and volunteer live happier and healthier lives. And that more than 10,000 students will be involved in this year’s event is very heart-warming and encouraging.”
Being co-sponsored by a host companies including Invesco, Mariott Hotel and Convention Centre, United Ways, and Hi 5. This year will also see around 80 non governmental organisations pitching in. For information on the JoGW, to participate and donate, log onto www.joyofgivingweek.org.
