CHENNAI: Green-I is a CSR initiative by Carrier India, which is entering the 5th year in October 2011 following stupendous success in the previous 4 editions.Carrier Corporation, a leader in providing HVACR systems, controls, services and sustainable building solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, food service and transportation applications, has been a socially responsible corporate and actively involved in various green initiatives. Through its CSR initiative, Green-I, the company has been a pursuer of involving the student community in the growth and development of the country. India is known for its incredible environmental diversity but problems such as loss of bio-diversity, deforestation, air and water pollution are significant. Through the Green-I contest; Carrier and Yi (Youth wing of CII) have engaged more than 10,000 students in the last four years to create awareness & sensitise support for environmental conservation. The Green–I is being run in association with Yi and has been a platform through which students have shared their ideas for environmental responsibility. These implementation projects have not only benefited the schools but also are serving as models and creating a platform through which other schools can impart environmental education to their students. After receiving an overwhelming response to the previous editions, Carrier India is now ready to launch its 5th edition of Green-I.
