What are princess hands?
"Princess hands" are elegant hands with slender fingers and smooth skin. At least, that's what they look like according to the beauty gurus on TikTok! The trend is spreading like wildfire among women with hands and fingers of various shapes and sizes. They film their hands and show off their fingers at every angle. Then they call them "princess hands" or ask their audience if that's what they look like in the video caption. Some TikTokers also claim that people with princess hands are naturally more attractive than other people. The fingernails on princess hands can be long and artificial with a pointed or coffin-shaped tip. They can also be natural (or natural-looking) nails that end just above the fingertips. In February 2025, TikToker @allyyyyyl127 posted a video of her flexing her fingers out from her fist. The caption reads, "me when someone calls me ugly but girls with princess hands are scientifically proven to be more attractive."In March 2025, TikTok creator @strwbrrylana uploaded a video of her showing off her hand and fingers with the caption, "Yall do I have princess hands or no (pls tell me how to get them)." In May 2025, @cutiesuny shared a video in which she lists several beauty "facts." The first one listed reads, "girls with 'princess hands' tend to be the most attractive girls." Other creators like @rinalrz and @.stanlix have made very similar TikToks.
How to Get Princess Hands
Moisturize your hands, fingers, and cuticles regularly. "Make sure you moisturize your hands as often as possible," says nail artist Marta Nagorska. This will help you achieve the smooth, soft skin that people with princess hands are known for. Don't forget to also hydrate your cuticles and nails with cuticle oil! Nagorska recommends applying cuticle oil "at least twice a day, especially before bedtime, to nourish your nails and cuticles and prevent hangnails." Dermatologist Lydia Shedlofsky, DO, suggests moisturizing your hands with a thick emollient cream, especially if you wash your hands frequently. Nail artist Lindsey Yoshitomi recommends Sally Hansen's Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil for healthier-looking nails and fingertips. She says it "helps to hydrate cuticles, but also nails, which helps strengthen them and repair any damage."
Wear gloves when cleaning the house, gardening, or handling chemicals. The key to having lovely princess hands is protecting them from getting scraped, scratched, and dried out whenever you're doing chores. Nagorska says to "always wear gloves when gardening or doing housework, particularly if it involves handling cleaning products or submerging your hands in water for a prolonged period of time."
Wash your hands whenever they're dirty and clean your fingernails. Keep your hands looking neat and tidy by washing dirt, grime, food, and other debris off of them as needed. Shedlofsky recommends using fragrance-free soaps to help prevent your skin from drying out. And don't neglect cleaning your fingernails! According to Nagorska, "a manicure brush is a great tool to clean the underside of your nails, especially once the debris has softened during a shower or a bath." If you don't have a manicure brush, she says, "use a wet wipe wrapped around a manicure stick or an eyelash spoolie to clean the underside of your nails."
Keep your fingernails well-manicured. People with princess hands don't just have clean fingernails. Their nails are also impeccably manicured. You can go to a nail salon to have your nails done by a professional nail artist or give yourself a manicure at home. If you decide to go the DIY route, follow these expert tips to get salon-level results. To grow your nails out to a naturally long length, Yoshitomi says to "avoid putting stress on your nails that can lead to breakage. [It's] hard to get long nails if they keep breaking all the time." To get flawless nail polish, Nagorska says, "Always use a top coat to finish your manicure. It will add shine, make your polish last longer, and smooth out any imperfections." After your nail polish color and top coat are dry, Nagorska recommends using "a small brush dipped in nail polish remover to clean any nail polish from your skin and around your nail for a salon-like finish." Apply cuticle oil after your manicure is complete, suggests Yoshitomi. "Putting it [on] before can prevent the nail polish from adhering properly to your nails, and cause chipping."
Massage or ice your hands to reduce puffiness. Your hands and fingers may swell after exposure to heat, or because of inflammation or an injury. Massaging or icing can help reduce the puffiness and make your hands and fingers look slim again, like princess hands! To give yourself a hand massage, start by applying lotion or oil to your hands to make the skin slick. Next, shake your hands and wiggle your fingers to loosen them up. Finally, massage the muscles and bones of your opposite hand with your thumb and forefinger using firm and gentle pressure. To ice your hands, wrap a bag of ice, a gel ice pack, or a bag of frozen peas in a towel. Then place the cold compress on top of your hand and let it sit for no longer than 15 minutes. Unless one or both of your hands are injured, it's best to only ice them once in a while, not every day.
Make lifestyle changes to reduce swelling in your hands and fingers. Some videos online claim that you can slim and lengthen your fingers by exercising or massaging them. While massages may reduce occasional swelling, it won't make your fingers look skinnier or longer. In fact, there's no way to make your fingers longer than they already are without an invasive procedure like digital lengthening surgery. The good news is you may be able to help your fingers look skinnier by making lifestyle changes that improve your overall health. Here are some suggestions to help you get rid of your chubby hands (if that's your goal). Eat a low-sodium diet to decrease fluid retention in your limbs Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated Reduce your alcohol intake Exercise regularly (at least 150 minutes per week) Eat a healthy diet with lots of lean meat and fresh fruits and vegetables
Where did the princess hands trend come from?
The trend may have been originated by Filippino beauty TikTokers. In 2023, multiple Filippino beauty influencers on TikTok shared similar tutorials on how to get "princess hands." In this video posted in July 2023 by @aymazing.aysa, for example, the creator guides her audience step-by-step through getting soft and glowing princess hands. Notably, all her steps—including cleansing, exfoliating, hydrating, and massaging— involve using the same 2 products: Shaky Bum Bum and Handy Dandy. Shaky Bum Bum and Handy Dandy are products offered by Philippines-based beauty brand, Simply HUE. This TikTok uploaded by @tin_arador in the same month promotes the same steps and the same 2 skincare products. South Korean TikTok creator @lifetimebunny may have been one of the first Korean beauty influencers to take up the "princess hands" trend in 2024. In her video, which she posted in October 2024 and now has over 1 million views, she performs a variety of finger exercises on camera with the caption "How to get pretty princess hands." She also includes the hashtag #wonyoungism. Wonyoungism is a South Korean TikTok trend and lifestyle aesthetic inspired by Jang Won-young, a famous singer and a member of an all-girl K-pop group called IVE. The movement emphasizes self-improvement through self-care among young girls and women.
