Raipur: A BSF soldier was injured when he accidentally stepped on a pressure bomb planted by naxals in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Sunday, police said. The incident occurred between Sulangi and Siksod villages under Siksod police station limits this afternoon, Kanker Deputy SP (Anti-Naxal operation) Jayant Vaishnav said.

On getting information that naxals had blocked Sulangi-Siksod Road by felling trees, a joint team of the Border Security Force and the district force was dispatched to the spot.

While sensitising the route, BSF constable Vinod Chauhan accidentally came in contact with the pressure bomb which exploded, Vaishnav said, adding that Chauhan sustained grievous injuries on his leg. After administering him first aid at a local hospital, Chauhan was subsequently airlifted to Raipur for further treatment, he added.

Security personnel have returned to their camp after accomplishing their task of clearing the Siksod-Sulangi route, the officer said, adding that vehicular movement was normal in the region.
