KOCHI: As part of its efforts to strengthen security along the coast of Kerala, Lakshadweep and Mahe, the Coast Guard District Headquarters No 4, Fort Kochi, is organising the fourth Motorcycle Rally along the Kerala coast from June 1 to 3.The rally, in two sections, will start from Fort Kochi and proceed to Vizhinjam and Beypore.Both the rallies will return on June 3 after covering 25 coastal villages.During the rally, the participants will travel a total distance of 500 km.Thirty five participants from the Coast Guard, the Navy and the Kerala Police will take part in the rallies which is aimed at sensitising the coastal population on security, operation of distress alert and reporting of suspected and illegal activities at sea to security agencies.During the rallies, printed material will be distributed for reference. This will assist the coastal people asking them to contact the coastal security agencies in case of an emergency.The participants will also interact with the local administration officials and visit coastal police stations.The local administration, the police and the Coast Guard stations at Vizhinjam will provide necessary support to the participants during the conduct of the rallies. Fuel expense for the rallies is sponsored by BPCLKochi Refineries Ltd. Coast Guard DIG T K S Chandran will flag off the rallies from the Coast Guard District Headquarters, Fort Kochi, on June 1.
