TIRUPATI: In a tribute to Rabindranath Tagore, an advocate and academician K S Vasu, translated the national anthem, Jana Gana Mana, into 100 Indian and foreign languages. Compiled as a book, it will be formally released here on August 7, coinciding with Tagore's death anniversary and the completion of 100 years of the song written in Bengali by him in 1911.Addressing a press conference, Vasu said that it was while Tagore was staying at a hostel attached to Besant Theosophical College in Madanapalle of Chittoor district in 1918, that he translated the song into English and tuned it.Marking the centenary of the song, the national anthem will be rendered by school children, teachers and others on August 7. The gathering will make one lakh salutations by singing the song repeatedly on that day to create a world record. The programme will be held at the Mahati auditorium.
