'Only Death Is Excused': Boss's Cold Response To Employee For Being Late Due To Car Accident
A boss's cold reply to an employee who survived a terrible car accident has gone viral on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Imagine this: you’re on your way to the office when you meet with a terrible accident. You inform your boss about the situation, hoping for some understanding or concern. Instead, their first response is to ask when you’ll be able to reach the office. Sounds harsh? That’s exactly what happened to one employee. After sending a picture of their wrecked car to the boss, they were told it wasn’t a good enough excuse for being late, adding that only a death in the family would be considered acceptable.

“What would y’all respond with if your manager says this?” wrote X (formerly known as Twitter) user “Kira” on the microblogging platform.

The screenshot shows that the employee sent a picture of their badly damaged car to their boss. In response, the boss said, “Keep me updated on what time you’re expecting to be here.”

Another reads, “It’s understandable why you would be late, but regardless anything that prevents you from being at the workplace other than a death in the family is unexcused at any company.”

Take a look at the texts right here:

“Managers like this scare me, like is your life that miserable?!” wrote an individual after going through the conversation between a boss and an employee.

Another added, “‘Unexcused at any company’ meanwhile my boss let me go back home on work hours to adopt a cat we found.”

“Block and delete. Never go back to that work. And if any company in the future ever asked why you left you can pull up this screenshot,” expressed a third.

A fourth commented, “Happened to me at my last job. My boss asked me if I was alright and told me to let him know if I needed anything. It doesn’t cost anything to be cool to people.”

“I would get them a card that says sorry for your loss.. and on the inside, I’d write.. it’s me I quit,” said a fifth.
