Mumbai: Reaffirming his clout with three Sena MLAs already joining his camp, rebel leader Narayan Rane is set to change the power balance in the Maharashtra.
At a rally that witnessed massive Konkanvasis and Congress party workers? turnout, Revenue Minister Narayan Rane declared war on Shiv Sena candidate Parshuram Uparkar.
Daring the Sainiks right in the middle of Sena-dominated Central Mumbai, Rane said his rapport with Malvan voters would assure him victory.
"Getting me elected means inspiring the nation. We want to prove that we can change Sena dominance in Malvan to Congress supremacy. Congress is the future," he said.
With three Sena MLA's resigning, the Shiv Sena's strength in the Assembly will now be 58 giving an upper hand to the Congress over its ally the NCP, in the government.
If the rebel Sena leaders win the by-elections for the Congress, then the numbers tally in the State will be Congress 72 versus NCP?s 71.
The Sena will have approximately 58 seats while the BJP will have 54.
But the Shiv Sena insists it is not worried.
Executive President of the Shiv Sena, Uddhav Thackeray said that the resignations of the three Sena MLAs would not affect his party in any way.
He added that the seven other MLAs rumored to join the Rane camp had not given in their resignations and even if they did, the Sena would not stop them from going.
"It doesn't affect us. If they want to commit suicide, we can't stop them. We will all see the consequences of it in the Malvan elections," he stated.
Rane has vowed to bring victory to the Congress in Sindhudurg at any cost and the November 19 verdict will determine the power balance in the State.
