Congress, IUML ties hit a new low in Malappuram
Congress workers in Malappuram openly supported Aryadan Muhammed's criticism of IUML's stand on fifth minister...

MALAPPURAM: A reception accorded to Aryadan Muhammed by Congress workers on Sunday in Malappuram makes one thing clear - all is not well with the Congress-Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) relationship in the district. The applause he received for his criticism against IUML establishes the support he enjoys among Congress workers in Malappuram for his brave stand against allocating a fifth minister.Aryadan said that the Rajya Sabha seat was not somebody’s benefaction. The party needed only  34 votes  of MLA’s to win the Rajya Sabha seat and there were already 38 Congress MLA’s in the Assembly, he added.“League should understand what would be their situation if they compete in elections without having the support from any other political party. Congress and CPI (M) are the two parties which can win elections independently in Kerala.“There are no differences in Congress regarding the fifth minister issue.  Even IUML predecessors would not be able to destabilise the party. Those who had been beaten up at Kasargod and Kannur know which party is divided,” Aryadan said.He also said that the Congress flag would not bow before any communal leader. He warned IUML that they could not forget what happened in 2004 and 2006 elections.  Nobody can hold the power avoiding the support of majority.  He also said that he would not hang on to the ministerial post neglecting the emotions of Congress workers in Malappuram district. He said that he would express his opinions and no organisation is going to stop it. The party workers had also given reception to Aryadan in Changaramkulam, the entry point to Malappuram district. DCC President E Mohammed Kunhi and other office-bearers were present at the reception.
