New Delhi: Congress chose to keep out of a brewing controversy between the party's two prominent leaders, Sports Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar and Indian Olympic Associaton Chief Suresh Kalmadi, after the Indian Olympic contingent returned empty-handed from Kuwait, unable to secure the rights to host the 2014 Asian Games.

"These are personal expressions and personal opinions. It is not for us to comment," Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said on Wednesday.

The IOA was an unhappy lot after losing the bid to Incheon, South Korea on Tuesday, following Aiyar's statements to the media disregarding the importance attached to New Delhi hosting the Asiad.

Aiyar, too, then lashed out at the IOA President, finding fault with the oganising committe led by Kalmadi.
