CHENNAI: After cricket, say hello to the Indian Programming League TechGig.com, a social networking site exclusively for the IT community, has just launched the Great Indian Programming League, a revolutionary contest that pits code jockeys across the country with each other in a fight to the finish. According to Amit Gupta, Business Head, TechGig.com, “This is a great way of benchmarking one’s coding skills with some of the best software developers in India.” This programming contest is targeted at developers/senior developers/architects working on different technology platforms like Java, C++, php, VB, etc. The participant has to first register at www.techgig.com/codecontest to enter the contest. There are three levels of difficulty for the problems, ranging from easy to difficult. The problem has to be solved online by the participants and the code is evaluated in real-time by the automated system. A score is assigned to the solution based on the most optimised code in terms of CPU Time and Memory used to run the program. The contest is witnessing good participation from across the country, especially from the NCR, Pune and Chennai. Java and C seem to be the preferred language of coding, but these are still early days. Participants would be able to challenge their fellow technology professionals to compete with them in this contest. Top techies who do well in this contest will be featured on the site and be entitled to get prizes like iPads, daily movie tickets etc. The contest gets over on June 25 at midnight.
