Hyderabad: After inaugurating the 30-km-long Nagole-Miyapur stretch of Hyderabad Metro Rail, the Telangana government has set a target to complete the much awaited stretch up to Hitec City by June 2018.
Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Rama Rao instructed Metro officials to complete the 8.5-km-long Ameerpet-Hitec City stretch by June next year. The Minister also ordered the officials to immediately commence work of the Metro's 1.5 km extension up to Raidurg.
Out of the 27-km-long Nagole-Raidurg stretch of corridor III, the 17-km-long Nagole-Ameerpet stretch was made operational in the first phase.
The 1.5 km extension from Hate city station to Raidurg station involves erection of 49 pillars, 1.5 km of viaduct and Raidurg Metro terminal station.
After detailed inspection of all the pillar locations, Cyberabad Traffic police along with engineering, town planning, police and revenue wings of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) and the engineers of L&TMRHL, finalized the exact location and type of foundations for all the pillars and Raidurg station design.
HMRL Managing Director, NVS Reddy said, "The pillar locations and designs have been finalised keeping in mind the traffic movement during the pre and post construction periods. Taking the Metro viaduct towards Raidurg in left direction adjacent to/and over the existing Hitec City flyover which itself is wedged between Cyber towers and Shilparamam is a major engineering challenge."
As against the normal requirement of 3 years for completion of the extended 1.5 km stretch from Hitec city Metro station to Raidurg, Hyderabad Metro Rail officials have taken up the challenge to complete it in 2 years.
