Cop held for sexual abuse of boy

KOCHI: The City Police arrested the policeman who was absconding for the last two weeks in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of a 15-year-old mentally challenged boy. The accused policeman Sebastine alias Monai, 39, was arrested from Kaloor on Monday night. The arrested was presented before the Judicial Magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. Sebastian is a police constable at Thalayolaparambu police station in Kottayam district. The cop had been absconding ever since the family of the boy lodged a complaint of sexual abuse on August 16.Sebastine, who is a friend of the boy’s father, took the boy to his house on the eve  of the Independence Day and sexually harrassed him. The boy, who returned home, said about the incident to his parents. He was later taken to the nearby hospital. The policeman was suspended from the service after the incident.
