KOCHI: The City Shadow Police, along with the Ernakulam North police, on Friday carried out a raid on video parlours selling obscene CDs. During the raid, a video shopowner was arrested and about 220 CDs were seized. Pradosh of Triprayar, owner of Video Shine, Kaloor, was taken into custody by the police.
The raids were conducted based on the information received by City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar about sale of obscene CDs at roadside shops. The raids were carried out based on the instructions by Deputy Commissioner Gopalakrishna Pillai and Special Branch Assistant Commissioner M N Ramesh. The CD raid was carried out by a team, including Shadow SI Mohammed Nisar, North SI Vijay Sanker, ASI Babu, civil police officers Varghese, Krishnan, Jayaraj and Sabu. City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar said that strict action would be taken against thsoe who are involved in the sale of obscene and fake CDs and those who violate copyrights.
