HYDERABAD: With memories of the 'Million March' still fresh in the minds of people, the city police are on the tenterhooks about the proposed 'Vanta-Varpu' on the roads by pro-Telangana activists in the twin cites on Sunday.The city police have advised the people who may be proceeding to write examinations or attending marriages to leave well in advance to reach their destinations on time because there may be unforeseen road blocks on their routes. ''Traffic police will be available to help and guide the commuters,'' additional commissioner of police (Traffic) CV Anand said in a press release.Earlier in the day Hyderabad police commissioner AK Khan said that additional forces would be deployed to ensure law and order on the roads.''We will take action depending on the situation. But the city police is fully geared up for any eventuality. The agitators must bear in mind that there are some examinations on Sunday and their actions should not disturb the normal life of the people,'' Khan said.DGP K Aravinda Rao met chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and briefed him about the bandobust arrangements on Saturday morning. Police sources said that additional forces would be deployed near the Assembly, RTC crossroads, Tank Bund, Secunderabad and several other areas in Cyberabad.Meanwhile, Cyberabad police chief Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao issued prohibitory orders in his jurisdiction.All kinds of processions, meetings or gatherings have been banned, he said adding that prior permission has to be sought from the zonal DCPs for any such programme.
