HUBLI: Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa slammed the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government led by the Congress saying that it dented the image of the country abroad. “Indians have to hang their heads in shame for the corrupt deeds of the UPA government”, he said.Though the occasion was laying of foundation stone for three housing projects of Karnataka Housing Board in Hubli-Dharwad on Monday, the CM used the dais to hit out at his critics for their series of allegations against him.Lambasting the Congress leaders for criticising Baba Ramdev and launching a slandering campaign against Anna Hazare and Karnataka Lokayutka Santosh Hegde, the CM pointed out that their own UPA government in the Centre had held negotiations with Hazare and Hegde assuring them of giving into their just demands. “How can the Congress point its finger at Hazare and Ramdev while many of their leaders in the Central government were embroiled in a series of scandals causing losses worth crores of rupees to the country’s exchequer?” he asked. He said that the Congress has no right to continue in power in New Delhi.He challenged the Congress to dissolve the Lok Sabha and seek a fresh mandate.Yeddyurappa reiterated that he would expose the misdeeds of the Opposition parties in the state. “They are taking me and speaking about me very lightly. But I will not leave them as I know about every misdeed of these leaders,” he said.He claimed that he had records on how Deve Gowda’s sons exported stolen iron ore and illegally stored it in a forest, from the Mangalore Harbour. He said that he would make this public in Bangalore.The CM alleged that the entire Opposition was indulging in a slander campaign against his government alleging that development had come to a standstill in the state. In Hubli-Dharwad itself, development work worth crores is being taken up, the CM said and challenged the Opposition to come for a public debate on development.He claimed that there is no law and order problem in the state. Delhi Imam himself expressed satisfaction over the slew of measures taken for the welfare of Muslims in the state and wanted to felicitate him, BSY said.
