GANGAVATHI: Seventy five per cent of the state is suffering from paralysis and our politicians are only hungry for more land and money. Such representatives, unfortunately, get elected repeatedly, said president of ongoing Kannada Sahitya Sammelana C P Krishnakumar here on Saturday.He was interacting with writers and activists during an event titled ‘Interaction with Sammelan President’.When a person objected to the silence of the literary world at the backward Hyderabad-Karnataka and North-Karnataka regions, Krishnakumar shot back: “Where is the development in interior Karnataka? Parts of the regions resemble a third part of the state that has been paralysed.” He, however, was quick to mention the names of a few politicians who contributed to development. Responding to another question, he attacked the Karnataka Development Authority (KDA) for not working properly. “Had it been working properly, most of the problems of the state should have been resolved,” he interjected. He averred that a writer should be appointed as chairman of KDA. Meanwhile, he sought additional powers for president of Sammelans. “They must be provided with an office, car and other facilities to discharge their duties like verification of implementation of Kannada in both state and central government offices. He must also be empowered to send reports against officials ignoring Kannada,” he added. Krishnakumar opined that ‘Chutukas’(small poems) are not light in meaning. “Many long poems may become light and chutukas become heavier by their hidden meaning. Unfortunately, many readers identify me only with chutukas though I have written many long poems and other forms of literature,” he elucidated.
