KARIMNAGAR: Residents, specially women, of GP Nagar in Karimnagar town, have been fearing to come on to the road for the last 15 days due to crows.A flock of crows, which invaded Road No. 2 in the colony, is targeting people moving in the open.The birds have been hitting women with talons on their heads and pulling their hair. Crows have targeted nearly 10-15 women so far. Some of them were attacked 2-3 times. The unusual behaviour of crows is scaring people so much that they are avoiding the road in GP Nagar and preferring other routes.Those forced to take the route are carrying a small stick or a tree branch and covering their head with towel, saree or umbrella to protect themselves from the birds.However, if attacked by the crows, people, considering it to be sinistrous, are taking a head bath and rushing to a temple nearby to avoid misfortune.Some women are also approaching astrologers and seeking their advice on how to avoid bad luck for their families.Speaking to this paper, Gaja Ramakka, a resident of GP Nagar, said that her family began facing hardships after being hit by crows twice.Meanwhile, elderly people said that crows were being on the offensive in retaliation to an attack on their nest in some nearby place.Battu Rajamma, a resident of the colony, urged forest officials to take proper steps to check the menace as they were unable to move freely on the road.
