Two boys from Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district, who recently grabbed headlines for cracking the IIT-JEE against all odds, have now been given police security.
The security was provided to the boys, sons of a daily wage earner, after unknown people attacked the family with stones on Sunday night.
The family of Brijesh and Raju was attacked soon after the brothers returned to their village after being honoured by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Talking about the incident, Brijesh said, "Suddenly small stones started being pelted. We have no clue who is doing this and why they are doing it. It hurt one or two people, but no one suffered serious injuries."
Following the declaration of the results, their father Dharamraj Saroj had said that he did not have Rs 1 lakh to pay for the admission of his sons.
Dharamraj owns 8 goats, one cycle and a table fan, has so far managed to collect just Rs 30,000 to pay the fees.
The family lives in a mud hut in Lalganj village in the Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. The family did not even have electricity connection in their house till last year, says Dharamraj.
Raju and Brijesh had secured 167th and 410th rank respectively in the IIT entrance exam.
