A loud explosion near a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) School in Prashant Vihar area in Delhi’s Rohini on Sunday morning sparked a security alert in the national capital. The explosion took place at a time when the country is witnessing numerous bomb threat calls on several airlines across India. No injuries were reported in the incident.
A purported video of the CCTV footage surfaced on the social media. In the video, two cars were seen on the opposite side of the CRPF schoolwall and, an explosion took place. It seemed the explosive was kept behind a tree and the intensity was enough to shatter the glasses of cars and hit the CCTV as well. The explosion had damaged the school wall, nearby shops, and a car.

Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Delhi Police cordoned off the area and forensic experts collected samples from the site to ascertain the cause of the explosion which was reported at around 7.50 am.
Delhi Police said it is collecting mobile network data to find out who were present nearby when the explosion happened which is suspected to be a crude bomb.
“The white powder could be a mixture of ammonium nitrate and chloride. There was a foul smell of chemicals after the blast. Local residents and police officials who rushed there also felt the same. Our teams are investigating the entire matter,” a senior police officer said, as reported by PTI.
