New Delhi: The country's first woman IPS officer Kiran Bedi has emerged as a strong contender for the coveted post of Delhi Police Commissioner held by K K Paul.
Kiran Bedi, a 1972 batch IPS officer of the UT cadre who is at present heading the Bureau of Police Research and Development, is the senior most officer in the UT cadre.
Speculation on Bedi being tipped for the top slot has been rife ever since Tejendra Khanna took over as Lieutenant Governor as she had served as Officer on Special Duty during his earlier stint.
When contacted by PTI, Bedi, however, said she had no information in this regard.
Paul, a 1970 batch IPS officer, has been the Commissioner of Delhi Police for the last three years and two months, making him one of the longest serving Police Chiefs of the national Capital.
