Flowers and fruits from nature have many benefits. They are not only beautiful to look at but also have many health benefits. Rela flowers are one such flower with amazing medicinal properties. In the forested district of Adilabad, these Rela flowers are abundant. The trees whose leaves have fallen off and become bare are covered in green and golden colour by these flowers.
Not only in the forests but also on the banks of the fields and the roadsides, one can see these striped flower trees. This tree and its beautiful flowers are also important in Ayurveda. The elders say that apart from the flowers, the leaves, bark, trunk and nuts of this tree are also good for health.
In the Adilabad district, various dishes are also prepared and eaten using these Rela flowers. Especially, the tribals of the district not only make greens out of these flowers but also cook and eat them as pulses. It is said that due to this, the food eaten gets digested quickly and the problem of constipation does not arise. Apart from the tribals, the common people of the district, especially the villagers near the forest areas, also carry these rela flowers and prepare various dishes with them.
Even in urban areas, these flowers are used as food. B Sandhyalila, a housewife from Adilabad city, told Local18 that they make pachado or pappo with these rela flowers and eat it once a year. It is said that chicken and egg curry prepared with these rela flowers is delicious.
In Ayurveda too, the rela flowers hold great importance as food. Elders say that these rela flowers are very useful in relieving seasonal diseases. Ayurvedic doctors say that it is also helpful for skin problems. The root of this tree is said to have antipyretic properties. But all the fruits and flowers we find in nature are useful to humanity in some way. If used in the right way, one can get good results.
