A 21-year-old Mumbai girl was allegedly drugged, and raped on January 13 by a man, whom she met on social media. The case comes under the limits of south Mumbai’s Worli police station, who are now investigating the charges.
In a distressed post on Instagram, the victim shared her ordeal and narrated ‘the most traumatic experience’ of her life when she decided to meet the accused and hang out with him.
“I went out for drinks and partying in town, starting at place A,” said the woman adding that she later met his friends and went for Bastian. She narrated that after some tequila shots, she became ‘intoxicated’.
“After some tequila shots, I became intoxicated, feeling anxious and alone at the party. He insisted I drink more, and I had a blackout episode, not recalling what happened next,” she said.
The victim added that she suspected of being ‘roofied’. The word is a slang for someone being raped or sexually assaulted after being in a drugged position.
“I suspect I may have been roofied. I woke up to him raping me, and despite my efforts to stop him, he continued and even slapped me three times with intense rage, leaving me scared and intimidated.” she said, adding that the incident happened at one of his friend’s house, who later intervened to help the accused.
“His friends intervened to protect him. He tried to get me out before I could call for help, even threatening me in their presence. After leaving, he (accused) attempted to flee the scene.’ said the 21-year-old woman.
In bruised and hurt situation, she called her cousin and said “I couldn’t bring myself to tell my parents about that night.” The victim said that when her family found about the incident, they stood stunned and immediately filed an FIR.
“When my family found out, they were stunned. I filed an FIR against him later that week.” added the victim. The accused also sent an apology for the incident, the next morning, claimed the woman, who has also attached a screenshot of the alleged message.
“Hi I’m genuinely sorry for whatever happened tonight didn’t mean to do what happened, the situation got heated up and escalated and I’m really very sorry, I hope we can get over this and leave this behind us, I’m again very apologetic and sorry.” read the screenshot.
The 21-year-old victim is now seeking justice as 12 days have been passed but no arrest has been made so far by the Mumbai police.
“His morning apology means nothing to me, and he has absconded because he knows what he has done. 12 days have passed and he hasn’t been arrested. He has applied for anticipatory bail.” she said.
The Mumbai police has booked the accused under various section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 376 (punishment for rape) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt).
She concluded by saying that she seeks justice and urge other girls to be wary of who they talk to and go out with.
