Kuala Lumpur: A princess from the royal family of Malaysia's central Pahang state was stabbed to death and her husband was seriously injured after their youngest son attacked them in an apparent drug-fuelled frenzy, media reports said Tuesday.
Tengku Kamariah Sultan Abu Bakar, 64, died from stab wounds in the back, sustained while she was trying to protect her husband Tunku Ismail Tunku Sulaiman from their son, Tunku Shahzan.
The son also died several hours after the attack.
During Monday's incident, the 21-year old Tunku Shahzan had grabbed a large cleaver and began attacking his father at their home.
Shahzan, who was believed to have been under the influence of designer drugs at that time, appeared to be acting wildly and was behaving incoherently just before the incident, Tengku Ahmad Faisal, a neighbour and relative, told the Star daily.
"He looked strange, and his eyes were red and bulging. When I questioned him, he replied 'afraid, afraid,' then dashed across the road like a man possessed," he said.
Tengku Ahmad said he went to the victims' home, where he discovered the injured Tunku Ismail and his wife, who was bleeding profusely.
Tengku Kamariah died on the spot from excessive blood loss.
Neighbours called for an ambulance while they searched for the couple's son, who was found and tied up before being handed over to the police.
However, he died several hours later.
Police said they are investigating the motive for the attack, adding that a post mortem had yet to be completed to determine the reason for the suspect's death.
