Drunk soldiers misbehave with girls in train

In yet another sexual harassment incident in train, a group of soldiers allegedly tried to outrage the modesty of a group of female research scholars of the Kalady Sree Sankara University in Thrissur on Monday.

However, the Thrissur Railway Protection Force let off the soldiers after the girls preferred not to register any case in connection with the incident.

When contacted, RPF SI Subramanian said that the RPF let them off after the girls chose not to register any case against them.

“But, the students said they were dissuaded from registering an official complaint against the offenders. The RPF had told us that if we  register a case in connection with the incident we will be forced to go to Andhra Pradesh for the hearing as the incident took place between Vijayawada and Jolarpettai stations in Andhra Pradesh,” they said. According to the students, they had boarded the three-tier AC coach of the Kerala Express from Delhi on Saturday. On the first day, the soldiers and students were in good rapport. But, on Sunday night one of the soldiers allegedly tried to outrage the modesty of one of the scholars under the grip of alcohol, the students said.

When the woman raised an alarm, her fellow students, including boys, registered a complaint with the authorities at Jolarpettai station. However, the soldiers continued their teasing and they forcibly drove out the boys from the compartment, they said.

When the train left the station, the station authorities informed the RPF in Kerala about the incident.
