BANGALORE: Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE), on Saturday, inaugurated the first year classes of DSCE for the academic year 2011-2012. Chief Guest former Vice Chancellor of Goa University & Professor of ECE, IISE, Bangalore, Professor Sonde, addressing the new batch of students and their parents, lauded the college for providing excellent an academic record and for its green campus. Praising the students for developing innovative robots which were on display, and congratulating students for securing good marks in their board, CET and Comed-K examinations, Prof Sonde observed that engineering is known to art and science through which energy is converted to meet the needs of the society. KTWO Technology Solutions Chairman & CEO Anant Koppar, in his address, said Indians had a special and innate flair for entrepreneurship which they have inculcated for generations. Exhorting the students to emulate the words of wisdom of former President Dr Abdul Kalam to dream and work hard to realise their dreams, he advised the students to help themselves as only then they can carve a path of successful life and profession. Koppar said that students should not just stop at having an engineering degree also but take to specialisation.Wipro Senior Vice President & Head of Quality Jagadish Ramaswamy, in his address, impressed upon the students to concentrate on all round development, while asking the parents to keep an eye on their wards and monitor their progress. Dr D Premchandra Sagar, vice chairman, Dayananda Sagar Institutions (DSI) in his presiding address, said though DSI has 100 per cent placement record, students should become job creators and not job seekers. India will become the 8th largest country in the world very soon and by 2025 India will become the 4th largest country in terms of work force with knowledge and commitment entering the world face. DSI would be supporting students who would like to pursue an independent career focused on job creation, he added.
