New York: A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck off Indonesia and East Timor early on Friday morning, the US Geological Survey reported. No tsunami alert was issued.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The 1:08 am on Friday quake was offshore but shallow, just 6/10 mile (1 kilometer) deep, the USGS said.
The USGS said the quake hit some 160 miles (259 kilometers) northeast of Denpasar, in Bali, Indonesia; about 612 miles (986 kilometers) west of Dili, the capital of East Timor; and 686 miles (1,105 kilometers) east of Jakarta, Indonesia's capital.
