Elephant scare on city outskirts

BANGALORE: Tension prevailed on Bangalore-Mysore highway when two elephants were seen crossing the road from Bannerghatta forest to Savandurga on Wednesday night.According to DCF of Ramanagaram Division P S Ranavat, the two elephants— one male and the other female— on their way, damaged the compound wall of Basavagangothri Ashram near Kumbalgod.The forest officials have alerted the villagers of Mayasnadra, Dodderi, and Manchinabele Dam.“Though there was no major damage, the sight of two elephants crossing the highway caused panic among the locals here,” the forest officials said.
