BANGALORE: “It is our responsibility to take Kannada language forward. Up to Pre-University level, Kannada must be the language of instruction. The students are pleased to learn other languages once they gain command over Kannada,” observed Tushar Girinath, Commissioner, Department of Public Instruction. He was speaking at the 56th Kannada Rajyotsava programme organised by the Department of Public Instruction Ministerial Employees Association here on Thursday.“We (administrators) can deliver best when we know Kannada is better than English. We can relate well with the people. The way of seeing things change when we know Kannada. Many administrators have not delivered their services efficiently as they do not know Kannada” Tushar Girinath observed.Ministerial staff employees requested the Commissioner to upgrade Gazetted Assistants to Senior Assistant Director of Public Instruction and one of the superintendant posts at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) to B Grade category.The ministerial staffs alleged that their promotional avenues were very less when compared to the teaching staff and said, “We demand the Commissioner to take measures to relieve us from our many responsibilities. We are looking into the accounts of crore of rupees sent by the Central government for the Rashtreeya Madhyamik Shikshana Abhiyan, mid-day meal scheme etc. We do not find time to concentrate on the quality of education imparted to the students”.
