BANGALORE: On display at the Energy Park inside the Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain premises on Wednesday, were eco friendly electrical appliances which use renewable energy sources to operate. This exhibition was part of the state initiative to observe National Energy Conservation Day.Products like box solar cookers, parabolic cookers, thermal imagers, electric bikes and various lighting solutions were on display. There were sheds set up for different sets of products and people could see them in operation and also arrange for sales and installation. Companies like Selco Solar, Unison Technologies, Ampere Vehicles and Hero showcased their products at the expo, which has chances of becoming a permanent fixture according to the state Energy Minister, Shobha Karandlaje. “We are considering making this area a permanent place for the display and sale of energy efficient products,” she said. The minister also asked vendors for clean energy products to partner with the state government in bringing energy to far flung areas where power lines cannot be drawn. “We have feasibility restrictions and environment and forest guidelines which do not let us lay lines. These products will benefit such villages besides earning a profit for the vendors,” Karandlaje said.Angel series of cycle-scooters by Ampere which run on electricity and provide a range of 45 KM per charge was displayed at the venue. Designed like a bicycle, with a small motor attached below the seat, the Angel does not require a driving license or RTO registration. “This reminds me of my old cycle. I can ride without burning fossil fuels,” said a student.
