Taking a different stand from his party, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said that those who leave the party should not be taken back.

Gehlot begged to differ from Congress' Rajasthan unit which was planning to reinduct some partymen who had turned rebellious and were expelled from the party.

In his address to party workers in Jodhpur, the former Rajasthan chief minister said those who leave the party once should not be taken back into the party.

"Those who rebel and leave the party are just opportunists and such persons should not be taken back. Only dedicated workers make the party stronger," he said.

Gehlot was in Jodhpur to mobilise workers, appealed them to get out on the field and campaign for the party candidate from Jodhpur, Chandresh Kumari.

He also asked them to establish a connection with the people keeping in mind the local bodies election which are due in a few months.

"Go to the people. Talk to them and find out the reason of their disenchantment with the Congress. Ask them to sink any differences as they are bound to occur and convince them with all humility and patience in order to draw them back to the party," Gehlot advised the party workers.

"If you will start working now and refresh your connection with the people, you will be able to make a mark in the local bodies elections," he said.

Gehlot will be on a whirlwind trip of Pali, Jalore, Sirohi and Jodhpur districts from Sunday till Tuesday, addressing a series of public meetings in the favour of party candidates.
