TIRUCHY: A DMK functionary, who is also the brother of the district DMK treasurer, was arrested here on Friday on charges of extortion.According to police, Subramanian of Annamalai Nagar and V Rajasekar (45) of Cantonment were jointly running a real estate business in the name of RK Constructions.They split due to differences between them. It is said Subramanian gave a share of Rs 5 crore to Rajasekar to end the partnership immediately and the balance Rs 50 lakh was handed over on August 18, 2010.Meanwhile, on July 7, Rajasekar, along with KKM Moorthy (54), brother of DMK district treasurer KKM Thangaraj, DMK circle representative Rakkappan, one Ravichandran and two others approached Subramanian’s wife Meenakshi and demanded an additional `3 crore. They also demanded that a property worth `20 crore should be transferred to their name. Meenakshi lodged a complaint, based on which the Cantonment Police registered a case. Both KKM Moorthy and Rajasekar were later arrested.
