Federer manages a crucial win at Cincinnati
Federer has to win the Cincinnati title to retain his number one position.

Cincinnati: Roger Federer came back from the brink of another shock defeat to beat Robby Ginepri at the Cincinnati Masters on Tuesday.

Ginepri took the first set 7-6 and was serving for the match at 6-5 in the second, but he buckled with a win in sight as Federer levelled after a tie-break.

A stomach injury did affect Ginepri’s performance, and Federer won the deciding set 6-0.

When spoken to Federer after his win, this is what he said, "Well maybe this is eaxactly the match I needed. I lost last week in a match I should have never lost and today I almost lost again in a match I really I should never have lost as well and so to come through a match like this and be able to turn it around in the circumstances was great for me and now, hopefully, I can build on this and start to play really well and get matches under my belt and then feel great for the Olympics and the US Open."

If Nadal manages to win the title and Federer bows out before the semis, Nadal can overtake Federer to become the world number one.
